Explaination Writing

LI: To understand the structure and language features in an explanation

To make someone feel upset is to make them feel sad, guilty, or distressed mentally. In the story of Goldilocks and the Bear family, Goldilocks didn’t mean to make the Bear family angry or sad but above that she still made them upset. Do you remember a time you’ve made anyone sad?

Goldilocks was inquisitive although she was trying not to go inside. With this in mind, she still entered the front door. On the other hand she picked up the smell of porridge, so she decided to follow the delightful smell until she found the porridge and ate it.

Besides this she had a glimpse of a chair and decided to sit on it although she still broke the chair. After that she wandered off in the rooms of the house. For instance, she laid down on the bed that she found and fell asleep.

We’ve all made some people upset though it’s not on purpose and so did Goldilocks, She didn’t mean to trespass in their house but by the time she left the Bear Family was already home and they were very frustrated at what they were looking at.

To help us understand how to write an explanation we looked at the purpose, the structure Is called TIIC Tittle Introduction Information conclusion and the language features. An explantaion tells us how or why something is the way it is. To help us understand this we learnt about cause and effect. Cause and effect is an action and a reaction. We used the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears to help us understand this. Here is our explanation that describes how Goldilocks upset the Bear family.

Treaty of Watangi

LI: To explore the world in 1840 and the art of the Treaty

Treaty of Waitangi Art

This week we looked at the what the world was like in 1840. Did you know that the Treaty was translated from English to Maori? After this we identified some of the key people and their role in the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. I found it interesting that the British people was honouring the Maori Chiefs when they were charging. We then used the information from both of these activities to help us read a painting of the day the treaty was signed. We used our knowledge to infer what the artist Marcus King might have wanted us to think was happening.

I found this really interesting because I learned more about the Treaty of Waitangi and the history of  Maori Chiefs signing the Treaty back in 1940.
